IPDI Trimer

IPDI trimer-type polyisocyanates

are alicyclic polyisocyanate products based on IPDI (isophorone diisocyanate), formed through a trimerization reaction to create an isocyanurate structure.
This product category belongs to light-resistant aliphatic curing agents, primarily used in high-performance polyurethane (PU) coating systems. It significantly enhances coating weather resistance, UV aging resistance, and long-term appearance retention.
Compared to aromatic isocyanates, IPDI trimers exhibit superior yellowing resistance. Compared to linear or low-functionality aliphatic isocyanates, they offer higher crosslink density, imparting enhanced mechanical properties and chemical resistance to coatings while maintaining good flexibility.

Key Performance Characteristics:

  • Excellent light resistance and UV aging resistance
  • Rapid drying
  • Long pot life with excellent application flexibility
  • Well-balanced hardness and flexibility
  • Good compatibility with polyurethane and alkyd resin systems
  • Suitable for high-end decorative and industrial protective coatings
